IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you read this before registering for any DFG Training programmes.
Short Courses
DFG Training Terms & Conditions
Visa Pre-Requisites:
There are no visa pre-requisites for admission to DFG courses. However, non-European students and those with passports who need an entry or right-to-stay permit for the UK are advised to inquire about their immigration requirements from the Home Office. Visit

Academic Pre-Requisites:
There are no scholarly pre-requisites for admissions to DFG courses, except in programmes designated "Advanced", in which case the pre-requisite is either a previous relevant DFG course, or equivalent experience as assessed by the registrar through consultation with the session coordinator.
Course fees:
"Course Fees" include TUITION and USE OF EQUIPMENT, unless otherwise stated. They must be paid in full before the beginning of each course.
Refunds & Cancellations:
Before the course -
If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG less than one week (7 days) before the course begins, unfortunately no refund of the course fees can be claimed. If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG more than one week (7 days) before the course begins, DFG will retain 50% of the course fees. If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG more than fourteen days before the course begins, the fees will be fully refunded minus an administration fee of £50 per place.
Withdrawal during or after the course -
If oral or written notice of withdrawal is received within the course's duration, DFG will retain the full amount of the course fees.
Cancellations:
Students will be offered full refunds for any course cancelled by DFG. They will also be given the option of credit towards any other course for which they are eligible.
Credits:
DFG may at their own discretion offer credit towards another course for any amount of the course fees owed if it is agreeable to the student.
Trainer replacement:
It is the nature of the business that occasionally a listed instructor is unable to participate because of a change in his or her professional schedule. If we are forced to replace an instructor, we will do so with someone of equal or similar credentials. When time permits, we will inform all those registered of any changes regarding the listed instructors.
Student Footage:
1. All footage shot during a DFG course is property of DFG.
2. Students share non-exclusive distribution rights of the final production with each other and with DFG.
3. Students are requested, but not required, to inform DFG and their co-producers of any screening or other distribution of their final production

Course fees:
"Course Fees" include TUITION and USE OF EQUIPMENT, unless otherwise stated. They must be paid in full before the beginning of each course.
For participants applying to attend the Developing and Pitching Workshop with a project a deposit of £200 needs to be made along with the emailed documentary proposal. If your proposal is selected for the workshop your deposit is non refundable and the outstanding balance needs to be made before the start of the workshop. In the event of your proposal not being selected we will refund your deposit.
Refunds & Cancellations:
If notice of withdrawal is received by DFG at any time once participants are booked on the workshop, unfortunately no refund of the course fees can be claimed.

Course fees:
"Course Fees" include: TUITION, use of EQUIPMENT, and all ACCOMMODATION and FOOD on
residential
workshops.
The price does NOT include flights and transport to the teaching venue. We will endeavour to make sure your travel arrangements are smooth.
The non – refundable deposit of £250 needs to be made to book your place.
At least 50% of the full course fee needs to be made a minimum of thirty days before the course start date.
The fees must be paid in full fourteen days before the start date of each course to secure your place.
Refunds & Cancellations:
Before the course -
Enrolment is limited in these immersion courses, with people attending from all over the world. Therefore, once you have been accepted, your participation is important to us and we are relying on you to attend. However, if you must withdraw from a course, we provide the following refund policy:
If you withdraw from the course at any time before the course commences, you will lose your deposit.
If you withdraw up to thirty days before the course commences you will lose your deposit + 50% of the balance.
If you withdraw up to fourteen days before the course commences, you will lose the full amount of the course fees. In such circumstances, we will do our best to accommodate your needs (e.g. transferring credit to other courses etc., but this cannot be guaranteed.)

Course fees:
Course Fees include an initial two hour consultation with a specialized tutor and a follow up email correspondence with your tutor (depending on nature of consultation) for an agreed duration.
The fees must be paid in full before the beginning of the consultation.
Refunds & Cancellations:
Before the course -
If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG less than one week before the course begins, unfortunately no refund of the course fees can be claimed. If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG more than one week before the course begins, DFG will retain 50% of the course fees. If written notice of withdrawal is received by DFG more than fourteen (14) days before the course begins, the fees will be fully refunded minus and administration fee of £5.

Important: These one-to-one sessions are confidential, so you can rest assured that your idea/proposal is being discussed in absolute confidence.
Also, note that the tutor is giving a consultation to the best of his/her ability. The outcome of this consultation in no way guarantees that your proposal will be accepted and/or commissioned.
