Lets face it, if you’re going to keep the money rolling in as a documentary filmmaker, chances are you’ll need to be a mighty fine multi-skiller. In any event, the rate of change in this industry means that we’ve all got to work hard to keep up with new opportunities and technological developments. So, it’s with this in mind, that we are proud to present the Multi-Skilling Month.

Pick 'n' mix to your hearts content this June.....

Here’s the deal: you all have different skills and competencies, and consequently, different training needs. Perhaps you need to get up to speed with the latest camera and lighting techniques, or maybe your directing or editing skills could do with some work.

With the Multi-Skilling Month, you can bag lots of discounts by taking your pick from courses including:

LIGHTS, CAMERA, SOUND! (4 – 8 June)
Improve your technical skills and get to grips with the latest technology with our dedicated skills week. You can sign up for the individual workshops listed below or for the whole week. The more courses members do, the bigger the discount.

Intro to HDV Camera Techniques (4–5 June)
Intensive two-day workshop teaching the skills you need make the most of the Sony Z-1, the camera of choice for many documentary filmmakers.

Sound Workshop (6 June)
Get the sound wrong on your doc, and no amount of music is likely to save it. Learn how to record the best sound for your doc.

Advanced Camera and Lighting Techniques (7-8 June)
Refine your shooting techniques, and get to grips with the principles of lighting docs.

Directing, Interviewing and the Ethics of Documentary (21 - 22 June)
This weekend workshop explores the myriad techniques and skills involved in the process of interviewing contributors for your film, and addresses issues of directing, authorship and the ethical decisions involved in documentary making.
