Mosaic Films
Andy Glynne
Andy Glynne is the director of DFG. Initially trained as a clinical psychologist, he became involved in acting as a consultant clinical psychologist to a number of documentary films, often appearing infront of camera. Eventually, Andy moved behind the camera, and subsequently founded DFG in 2001. He has produced and directed numerous pieces for television including the recent award winning 'Animated Minds' - a series of short animated documentaries for Channel 4. In 2004, he was nominated for a Grierson Award in the "Best Newcomer" category, and continues to produce and direct films. As well as heading DFG, Andy is also Executive Producer at Mosaic Films, the award-winning production company which recently merged with DFG Films - DFG's production wing.
Deborah Kingsland
Deborah is responsible for developing and designing the comprehensive schedule of DFG training courses, corporate and bespoke training, and filmmaking masterclasses, and making sure that they remain responsive to industry developments and needs. A graduate of the National Film and Television School, Deborah has directed and produced numerous programmes for UK broadcast television and won a number of awards. She also has extensive experience in teaching video production, in the UK and in Ethiopia, where she headed up Gem TV, a professional video training programme for ex-street children. Gem TV is now a leading Ethiopian production company, run by the graduates of the training programme.
Deborah has a particular interest in women’s rights and has made around a dozen films about gender issues, in India, Kenya, Ethiopia Australia, and the UK. Her work also includes a documentary about the 50th Anniversary of Human Rights and a drama-documentary to promote discussion amongst Ethiopian street children about their rights.
Laura McIntosh
Laura joined DFG in 2004 from the Royal Academy of Art. With a background in art, including a degree in Spanish and Art History from the University of Leeds, focusing on visual culture, she has accumulated an extensive knowledge of documentaries. In the four years that Laura has worked at DFG, she has co-ordinated and delivered an exceptional range of training courses and initiatives, ranging from our overseas projects in Poland and Morocco to the London-based Diploma and DocLab intensive courses. Working with Deborah Kinglsand, she has also been responsible for organising a range of bespoke training for broadcasters (including ITV and Channel 4), as well as for production companies, not-for-profit organisations and individual filmmakers. She loves hats and libraries.
Kerry McLeod
Kerry joined DFG following several years of meandering through the world of tv and film, which culminated with an MA in Documentary Practice at Brunel University in 2005. Her interest in the questionable benefits of the London 2012 Olympics borders on obsession and to date she has made two films on the subject
. She has recently completed a short documentary about tea -
For All The Tea In England
- and also writes reviews and features for several film publications, including
6 Degrees Film
and
movieScope
. Kerry runs DFGDocs and the DFG Community, our membership scheme. She also produces a host of industry events and initiatives, and works with Mosaic Films on various projects, including the groundbreaking 3MW initiative, Britain Recut, in association with the BFI.
Jenny Saunders
Jenny goes by the rather lofty title of Head of Communications and Strategy, and is frequently to be found sitting in a corner of DFG, rubbing her chin in a ponderous fashion… Prior to working in documentaries, Jenny was a Public Affairs and Public Relations Consultant, working for not-for-profit organisations as well as Weber Shandwick (PR Week International Consultancy of the Year) on a range of high profile campaigns. Jenny specialised in health, charity and human rights issues, and her campaigns were nominated for various awards. As a PR, Jenny supported the development of a number of documentary projects and started to wonder whether the grass might be greener on the documentary side. She began developing documentaries with Mosaic Films, and has since moved to work both for Mosaic Films and DFG. Current projects include the second series of the award-winning Animated Minds, and Jenny will happily testify to the abundance of lush, green (and totally legal) grass on this side of the fence.
