The UK’s first cross platform documentary pitching competition

Sheffield Doc/Fest and Unexpected Media, with support from the BBC, Channel 4, London Development Agency and Screen Yorkshire, are looking for documentary makers, new media producers and games developers from Yorkshire and London to take part in Crossover UK, a five-day residential laboratory designed to brainstorm cross platform documentary projects.

A prize fund of £10.000 will be available to win by Crossover UK participants during a pitching competition at this year’s Sheffield Doc/Fest.

The aim of Crossover UK is to bring together talented individuals from a range of disciplines to explore the creative and the commercial challenges of developing documentary content and services for digital delivery in a 360-commissioning world.

Over the course of five days, talented and experienced documentary film and television makers from Yorkshire and London will collaborate with new media producers and games developers on innovative, interactive doc projects for cross-platform delivery. Crossover UK will be led by Frank Boyd from Unexpected Media

Similar style laboratories run by Unexpected Media have played a key part in developing some highly innovative new media projects and programmes, including BBC interactive services and several BAFTA award winners.

Crossover UK will select individuals on their creative merit, and will focus on idea generation and new approaches to producing cross platform documentaries.

The results of Crossover UK will form a session and a pitching competition at Sheffield Doc/Fest in November 2007, with prize money of £10,000 available.

Entry requirements for Crossover UK applicants must:
  • be a resident and/or citizen of UK, based in London or Yorkshire
  • be a film, video, TV or new media maker
  • be able to attend all of the 5 days of Crossover UK
The deadline for applications is Friday 17th August. Places are limited. Full details, guidelines and application forms are available at www. https://sheffdocfest.com/view/crossoverhome or contact Suzana in the Doc/Fest office on Suzana@sidf.co.uk
