RIFF Talent Campus Open for Submission

RIFF will be held for the fifth time from 25th September to 5th October 2008. As Iceland’s highest attended cultural event, the main purpose of the festival is to offer both Icelandic and international filmgoers a wide selection of alternative, independent cinema. It is well attended by a number of international guests, including press, media and film personalities.

RIFF's Talent Campus is inspired by Iceland's location. Young talents from Europe and America are given the chance to meet up in Reykjavík and experience what is going on in film making on the other side of the ocean.

Experienced directors give case studies of their films and young filmmakers are given the chance to meet different producers and therefore this is a great opportunity for young and talented filmmakers to get in contact with others and get to know one another.

Education and entertainment will go hand in hand. The schedule will be packed with goodies, case studies and seminars. Besides special parties and events for Talent Campus only, the schedule will also coincide with the festival’s schedule and the Talent Campus will overlap with the closing of the festival and the final party.

Reykjavík has a reputation. The city's music scene has drawn attention for it's progressive creativity. That is partly the reason for RIFF's new sidebar: Film & Music. During the fifth Reykjavík International Film Festival the connection between music and films will be cultivated especially and the film & music theme will of course be reflected on this years Talent Campus.

The Talent Campus will last for 3 days during which the filmmakers will participate in workshops and discussions with already established names within the film industry. The festival will cover the cost of the participants’ accommodation plus parts of the expenses during the festival’s events. Riff’s 2008 Talent Campus in now open for submission at www.riff.is. The deadline for submissions is the 15th July.
