Channel 4 launches UK’s first simulcasting service via broadband

Channel 4 will today begin "simulcasting" its commissioned programmes live via the internet, making it the first UK broadcaster to do so. Presently, the programmes are only available to PC users who register on the channel's website. As an added perk, viewers will be able to access the shows for up to seven days after transmission. Although Channel 4 will not simulcast acquired programmes and films as part of the new service, users can access popular TV hits like Lost and Desperate Housewives through their current pay-per-view service.
