Channel 4 Sheffield Pitch Extends Deadline to 25 September

The Sheffield Docfest has extended the deadline for entries for this year’s Channel 4 Sheffield Pitch. Filmmakers now have until the 25 September 2006 to submit their idea - to find out how, see below.

Eight shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to pitch their ideas to a panel of Channel 4 commissioners in front of the Festival’s delegate audience. The winning pitch will take away a £30,000 commission to make a film for Channel 4.

The competition is open to anyone who hasn’t made a documentary for primetime TV before – it’s not necessary to have backing from an executive producer or production company, just a good idea for a popular story with broad appeal and the potential to play in a primetime TV slot.

For the chance to be shortlisted, filmmakers should visit www.sheffdocfest.com where they will be invited to submit their idea (no longer than 1 page of A4) and CV by 25 September 2006.

The pitch presents an opportunity to glimpse how commissioning editors evaluate the ideas that come across their desks.

The festival will run from Monday 30th October until Sunday 5th November in Sheffield. Applicants for the Channel 4 Sheffield Pitch must be available to attend the festival from Thursday 2nd November - Saturday 4th November.

The full programme will be announced & tickets will be available from mid-September.

Remember: Submissions are still being accepted for The MeetMarket, an innovative marketplace event, where up to 25 selected projects will get the chance to meet buyers and commissioners attending the festival in a supportive, structured environment.

The deadline is Monday 11th September.
