Call for Proposals - The Current Pitch at Sheffield DocFest

Do you want to make a short documentary for Current? Have you always wanted to go to the biggest documentary festival in the UK? Then boy have we got an opportunity for you.

Here's what you do:

Pitch your idea before October 20th 2008 for a 3-8 minute documentary to be included in Current TV's season on crime. Here is the description of the season:

From gangs on the streets of London to illegal downloading and DVD piracy, crime is an integral part of a young person's life in Britain today. In a world where we're constantly captured on camera and punishments that may not fit the crime are everyday occurrences, Current's crime season points the finger at the long arm of the law and investigates whether the big brother culture we find ourselves living in is the real offense.

Folk at Current will read all the pitches with 4 criteria in mind:
  1. Is this a compelling idea?
  2. Is it relevant for Current's audience of 18-34 year olds?
  3. Will it fit into our season on crime?
  4. Can it be done for £1000?
They'll select the 6 ideas that best fulfill these criteria. The 6 finalists will get a flip camera and a day pass to Docfest's Newcomer's Day on November 6th to pitch their idea live to a panel of commissioners. The winning pitch will get their film commissioned by Current TV!
