Call for Entries - Sardinia International Ethnographic Film Festival

The Sardinia International Ethnographic Film Festival (SIEFF) is now accepting submissions.  It is organised by the Istituto Superiore Regionale Etnografico of Sardinia (ISRE) and will be held in Nuoro from 15th - 21st September 2008.

This biennial event is now calling for ethno-anthropological films.

The work chosen for the official programme of the festival will compete for the following awards:
- "Grazia Deledda" Prize for the Best Film.
- Prize for the Best Film, set and produced in a Mediterranean country.
- Prize for the Best Film by a Sardinian director.
- Prize for Most Innovative Film

A selection of the award-winning films may be presented in the other Sardinian towns.

The festival, which used to concentrate each year on a specific single theme, is now concentrating its programme instead on a selection of recently made documentary films with an ethno-anthropological perspective, with special attention being given to films principally concerned with themes that inevitably bring us back to the representation of contemporary life.  This year the festival intends to focus its interests particularly on the following themes: the production and circulation of folk music globally; spirituality and transcendence in a world dominated by the effects of globalisation; eco-anthropology and tourism.

Deadline for submissions is May 31st 2008.
