Call for Entries - FourDocs

FourDocs (www.channel4.com/fourdocs) headquarters are currently selecting 4 FourDocs to be screened on Channel 4 in June, in their 3 Minute Wonder strand. The chosen ones will get an on-line edit to polish the film up, and a broadcast credit to their name. They're considering everything published in the last 12 months, and anything uploaded before Friday 11th May. So, if you've been meaning to make another FourDoc forever, or filmed but not edited one yet, do so in the next 4 weeks. You might end up working with commissioner Kate Vogel if you come up with something original that really plays with the documentary form in interesting ways.

The theme is short journeys/movement. They want films that (in commissioner talk) reveal the complexity of everyday life. This might mean making a film about something commonplace, that you or a character does everyday on automatic. What would be brilliant is if watching your film actually engages the audience enough to make them look at the activity or its implications in a new light. You need to upload to FourDocs (www.channel4.com/fourdocs) by May 11th but please do get in touch via fourdocs@channel4.com if you have an idea and want some advice

They want a simple idea and raw fresh talent, or access to something important to you. Not mimicry of traditional documentary format. Look back over FourDocs that have gone down well with the FourDocs editorial team on the site and see the kind of things they're attracted to....although do remember they're very open-minded so just do what comes naturally to you.

And don't be scared to get in touch if you'd like a sounding board for your idea, or any have questions at all. Now get thinking and shooting and making.
