Banff Television Awards Announced

The winners of the 2008 Banff Television Awards were announced at a ceremony last night, the end of the Banff festival's second day.

The coveted Grand Jury prize went to US-produced documentary White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, while Up the Yangtze, the Hot Docs hit, won Best Canadian Programme.

Other documentary winners included October Films's Meeting the Taliban for Dispatches, named best investigative and current affairs program, and Iron Ladies of Liberia, part of the Why Democracy project.
