The 7th Tbilisi International Film Festival will be
held 10-15 October, 2006. The film festival was formed in 2000. In
the years 2000-2001 it was part of the "GIFT" festival. In 2002 the
festival was organized independently for the first time. The
main goal of the Festival is to promote cinema art, encourage
Georgian film industry and establish contacts with professionals
from the other countries. The Festival program usually includes
about 70 feature, documentary and short films. The festival
consists of the following sections:
International Competition
Forum of European Cinema
Horizons (new films from Asia, America, Africa)
Georgian Panorama
Documentaries
Retrospectives
Special screenings
International Jury consisting of 5 well-known cinematographers,
will award the Golden Prometheus for the best film and Silver
Prometheus for the best director. During the last two years
Parajanov Jury and FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film
Critics) Jury have also revealed the best film screened at the
festival.
This festival covers a wide range of films and has
particular focus on docementaries. There are various prizes to be
won in a number of different categories including the Parajanov
Prize and the Golden Prometheus Award for the best film.
35mm. Films must have been produced during 21 months before
festival

for best director
