A popular alternative to Sundance, and running in the same city and at the same time, Slamdance focuses on work by emerging filmmakers, and films that have yet to secure a distribution deal.
The festival offers both a Grand Jury and Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature, and a Grand Jury Award for Best Documentary Short. Past Slamdance documentaries include Mad Hot Ballroom and End of the Century.
