Glasgow
The Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival is the national arts festival in Scotland which explores mental health. It has its base in
Glasgow, with events taking place all over Scotland. The festival brings together a wide range of mental health organisations, arts organisations, community groups and artists, embracing approaches including film, visual art, drama, literature, music and comedy.
The festival aims to engage audiences in debate about mental health and creativity, to celebrate the artistic achievements of people with experience of mental health issues and to promote positive mental health, rights and recovery.
The core purpose of the film festival is to raise awareness and tackle the stigma and discrimination related to mental health issues, and to promote an understanding of an individual’s rights and recovery. The festival welcomes submissions that address these issues directly and explore them in a broader context, films which help us to understand your perspective on mental health and which challenge existing and inspire new understandings of the issues involved.
Submission Guidelines
Documentary, drama and animation are all accepted. Preview copies of films should be submitted on PAL DVD only. The festival welcomes current or past films, but please do not send films which have been previously submitted to this competition. There are no restrictions on film duration, however please note that the nature of the festival and the films we programme means it easier to accommodate shorter films. All non-English films must have subtitles in English.
