- Competition Section of new European films not
yet bought by Greek Distributors. The prize for best film covers
free advertisement in the "Eleftherotypia" daily to the total
amount of 6.000 euros and covering of the costs of a sub-titled
print, this offered by the Municipality of Athens.
- International Panorama: with premieres of
films from all over the world. Among the films to be screened:
David Cronenberg's "A History of Violence", Jean-Pierre and Luc
Dardennes' "L' enfant" (Golden Palm in Cannes), Dagur Kari's "Dark
Horse", Jacques Audiard's "De battre mon coeur s'est arrete",
"Eros" by Michelangelo Antonioni, Wong Kar-Wai and Steven
Sonderberg, "The Constant Gardener" by Fernando Meirelles.
- Journalism and Cinema: ( on the occasion of
"Eleftherotypia"'s 30 years). Films include: Orson Welles' "Citizen
Kane" (1941), Alan J. Pakula's "All the President's Men" (1976),
Elia Kazan's "A Face in the Crowd" (1957) , Henry Hathaway's "Call
Northside 777" (1948), Howard Hawks' "His Girl Friday" (1940),
Samuel Fuller's "Shock Corridor" (1963) , et al.
- Jules Verne's spirit in the cinema: Cy
Enfield's "Mysterious Island" (1961), William Cameron Menzies'
"Things to Come" (1936 ) , Frederick Stephani's 15-episode serial
"Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars" (1936), Henry Levin's "Journey to the
Center of the Earth" (1959 ), et al.
- German occupation of France and World War II:
Films include: Bertrand Tavernier's "Laissez-passez" (2002),
"Marcel Carne's "Les enfants du Paradis" ( 1943) , " Le Corbeau"
(1943) by Henri-Georges Clouzot, with Glittering Eyes by P.
Glikophrides, et al.
