Ottawa Animation Film Festival

Annual festival screening a selection of feature and short animated films, together with categories for student and new media work. It was founded in 1975 and set up by the Canadian Film Institute, with Norman McLaren as the festival's first president. Prizes are awarded in each of the main categories (details on the website), and a jury awards four Grand Prizes, for Best Animated Feature; Best Independent Short Animation; Best Student Animation and Best Commissioned Animation.

It also includes the Television Animation Conference, which runs for two days alongside the main festival and includes panel discussions, the opportunity to meet producers one-to-one, and a pitching session.

There's also Animarket, a three-day event showcasing the best in animation, technology, production and education; a Technology Foruma top-notch recruiting session, and Career Day with presentations from all the major North American animation schools.

Any frame by frame or computer assisted animated film or video made for cinema, television or internet may be entered, and there is no entry fee. Screening formats are 35 or 16mm or Beta SP (NTSC only). For more information and an entry form, see the festival website.
