Nordisk Panorama - 5 Cities Film Festival, is the largest annual
short and documentary film festival in the Nordic Countries, and in
2006 will be held in Århus, Denmark. The festival also includes two
parallel events: Nordisk Forum for Co-financing of documentaries,
and Nordisk Panorama Market.
Nordisk Panorama is arranged by Filmkontakt Nord (FkN) and a local
partner in each of the five Nordic Countries. This year Århus
Kommune is the local partner for the 17th Nordisk Panorama.
A number of internationally well-known Nordic directors have made
their debut at Nordisk Panorama. The festival offers a unique
opportunity to take the pulse of the Nordic Scene - to be among the
first to see new films by proven talents and to discover new
potential.
Nordisk Panorama travels between the festival's five Host Cities:
Bergen (2005), Århus (2006), Oulu (2007), Malmö (2008) and
Reykjavík (2009).
The main showcase of Nordisk Panorama is the Nordic Competition
Programme which consist of the best new short films and
documentaries from the five Nordic countries. The programme
presents some 50 - 60 films in total, the majority of which will be
shown to an international audience for the first time.
The films in the Nordic Competition Programme compete in two
categories:
Short films - animation, fiction and experimental films with a
maxium duration of 60 min. - compete for the Nordic Short Film
Award.
Documentary films - both short as well as feature length - compete
for the Nordic Documentary Award.
Both awards are presented by expert juries.
