Auckland

13th - 30th July

From a core programme of approximately 150 features and many shorts, the organisers - the New Zealand Film Festivals Trust - present major Festivals in Wellington and Auckland and "selected highlights" programmes in the South Island cities of Christchurch and Dunedin. A further reduced programme travels to twelve provincial cities.

The purpose of the festival is to present a non-competitive, invited season of new films in a wide variety of styles and genres, including documentary. The Festival will only show films which have not previously been exhibited publicly in New Zealand. Preferred screening format is 35mm, also they are also able to exhibit 16mm and 70mm prints, Beta-SP and DigiBeta tapes and DVD. Feature films, documentaries and shorts are all accepted.

Short films by New Zealand filmmakers may be selected for screening before feature presentations OR as part of the Moving Image Centre's Homegrown short film programmes. If your film is eligible for Homegrown selection please indicate so on your entry form and submit a second copy of your entry to the Moving Image Centre.

Animated films are selected for the Festivals by Malcolm Turner. You can submit your film to Malcolm through the standard submission procedure or you can contact Malcolm directly at animationnow[at]hotmail[dot]com.
