Magma Short Film Festival

8th - 11th November 2006
THE MAGMA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL is a four day festival programme, to be held 8th - 11th November 2006 at The Shambles Theatre, Rotorua, New Zealand.
The festival is open to all filmmakers, New Zealand and worldwide, with a special invitation to tertiary students and Rotorua secondary schools. There is no restriction on the age of the filmmaker or on the age of the film. All films submitted for selection must fulfil the submission criteria. Successful entrants will be notified early in September.
The following awards are open for entry:
* Drama
* Comedy
* Animation
* Documentary
* Adventure/Sport
* Dance/Experimental
* 'Mud' Category
There will also be the:
* Rotorua School's Film Award
* Audience Choice for Best Film
There is a time limit of 30 minutes for documentary, Wet 'n' Wild adventure/sport; 7 minutes for music; and 20 minutes for all other film categories -dance/experimental, animation, comedy, drama.
There is also a special category with the theme of MUD, a homage to Rotorua. The category is wide open to interpretation so long as there is a reference to mud! Entries are to be no longer than 5 minutes whether drama, animation, comedy, documentary etc.
SHOWCASE FILMS
We are happy to receive other film festival award winning films. These will be screened as Showcase Films and not as part of the competition categories. There is no fee to enter your film as a Showcase Film although your film will still need to be presented in DVD format and be no longer than 30 minutes unless by prior arrangement. Showcase entries must already have been classified by NZ film censors.
GUEST SPEAKERS
We are inviting seasoned professional and emerging industry talent to share their stories and experiences with festival audiences. From acting to make-up, writing and producing to cinematography and editing.
