Molodist means youth in Ukrainian and the Kiev
festival is dedicated to film debuts and student films. Now in its
36th year the festival aims to
- analyze the main trends and tendencies in the work of young
filmmakers around the world
- establish and broaden creative contacts between young
filmmakers and between film schools
- recognize new personalities in modern film art
- integrate Ukrainian film into the global cinema
industry
The annual festival competition consists of three categories:
- student films (less than 45 mins)
- first professional short (fiction, animation, documentary)
(less than 45 mins)
- first professional full-length fiction (60 mins +)
All films produced after 1st January 2005 at professional
studios or film schools made on 16 or 35 mm film are eligible for
competition.
