5th - 9th November 2008
The festival aims at bringing high-quality animation film to the attention of an adult audience, as well as stimulating screening of these films in cinemas and on television. Furthermore the festival wants to bring independent and applied animated films to the attention of the business world. The festival plans to achieve this goal by screening different types of animation, by organizing a competition for applied as well as for independent animation and raising publicity for the medium.
Submission Guidelines
The Holland Animation Film Festival organizes three different competitions. For each competition is a separate entry form available on the festival website.
52 animated independent short films compete in the competition for independent animation. Deadline for entries is 15 July 2008. A Grand Prix will be appointed in the narrative section as well in the non-narrative section of this competition.
For applied animated films, in the categories publicity and promotional films, music videos (pop promos), educational and information films, station calls and film leaders the festival organizes the competition for applied animation. Deadline for entries is 15 July 2008.
The competition for student films is open for student films made in The Netherlands and Belgium only, at art schools, film schools and comparable institutions. The call for entries will be sent early June. Deadline for entries is 1 August 2008.
Standard for screening during the festival will be films on 35 and 16mm, and videotapes of the system Betacam-SP PAL, both picture and sound on the same support. Selected entries for applied animation are compiled onto one Betacam-SP per programme. Because of the quality please be advised to send in your entry on Betacam-SP PAL or Digibeta PAL.
