The aim of Filmfest Hamburg is to put cinema in the
centre of things for one whole week. Especially at such a time of
crisis (cinema audience numbers dropped by c. 20% in 2005), the
film medium requires special attention. Filmfest Hamburg is the
perfect generic campaign for cinema, for film and for film in the
cinema!
Filmfest Hamburg offers an opportunity for the audience to further
develop its understanding of different cultures. The multifaceted
and international programme should be perceived as an enrichment of
the customary, often very commercial and thus monotonous cinema
programme.
By means of the Children's Filmfest, Filmfest Hamburg aims to reach
tomorrow's cinema-goers and give them a sense for cinema at a young
age. Teachers, too, can make use of the Children's Filmfest as an
attractive educational media supplement to the curriculum.
Categories include features, shorts and documentary many of which
have not been previously shown in Germany. Formats include 16mm,
35mm, Beta SP, DigiBeta.
