A member of the International Association of Environmental Film Festivals ECOMOVE International, ENVIROFILM exclusively represents the Slovak Republic. The objective of the Festival is to present and award new films, TV and video programmes that by their contents and artistic level help to disseminate ideas about nature and environmental protection.

The programme of the Festival consists of the international contest of films, video and TV programmes, projection of non-competition films, conferences, professional and creative seminars and workshops, 'green talks' (public discussions), press conferences, exhibitions, international competitions and accompanying events for children and youth.

ENVIROFILM offers financial awards for the festival Grand Prize and The Best Slovak Film Prize plus the annual prize of the U.S.A. based Christine Baltzer Parks Environmental Foundation to the winner of the “Green World” children’s art competition. The festival also presents the Union of Slovak Television Programmes Makers and Literary Fund Lifetime Achievement Award to a Slovak producer who has made long-term audio-visual contributions to the field of nature protection and environmental awareness.

Submissions

Film and video programmes submitted for the Festival should focus on nature and environmental protection, sustainable development, environmental friendly technologies and healthy lifestyles. Films, TV and video programmes shall be classified in following categories:
  • Journalistic programmes and films
  • Documentaries
  • Educational and instructive video programmes and films
  • Free production and films for children and youth (advertisement spots, animations, puppet films, features, video clips, etc.)
16-mm films, BETACAM SP, DVCAM and DV cassettes are acceptable for the public projection. The organiser prefers following formats:
  • DVD of the highest quality without copy protection
  • mini DV, DV and DVCAM in PAL standard
  • Betacam SP in PAL standard
  • HDV
Films of 60 mins and under are preferred, and submissions must be accompanied with a complete commentary in one of the following languages: English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Czech or Slovak with scientific (Latin) names of flora and fauna. Films without the commentary will not be accepted for the competition.
