Documenta Madrid is an international documentary film festival organised by the Government Arts Council of the City of Madrid.
The festival is organised with the intention of promoting the audiovisual medium while at the same time providing a meeting place for professionals, creators and public interested in documentary film. As well as the numerous screenings of documentaries and the four competitive sections there are a number of workshops, forums and discussion groups taking place over the nine days of the festival.
There are four sections to the 2007 competition:
Original Documentary - Films with original or innovative form or content. Features and shorts categories.
Documentary Reporting - Documentary films with an informative or current events perspective.
Madrid Competition - Film made primarily within the city of Madrid for the promotion of the city and its image.
Avid Xpressate Marathon - A further competition for those directors nominated for the above three competitive sections.
International Documentary Festival Documenta Madrid accepts films on 35mm or Betacam SP video.
