Danish Film Fest: LA

The Danish Film Fest: L.A. aims to celebrate and promote Danish cinema and filmmaking and to form liaisons between the film industries in the USA and Denmark.

The event will open with a gala screening of Carl Theodor Dreyer's "La passion de Jeanne d'Arc" at the Egyptian Theater, Los Angeles. Accompanying the film is a new score by composer Jesper Kyd.

Festival guests will have the opportunity to see some of the most important works in Danish cinema of the past few years. Among the films screening are the documentaries Smiling in a War Zone, Ghosts of Cité Soleil and The Monastery.

In conjunction with the festival, the Danish Film Expo 2007 will take place, and include a programme of master classes, symposia and presentations of Denmark's most promising VFX/post production companies for representatives of the American film industry.

Danish Film Fest: L.A. is organized by its founders Lene Pels Jørgensen and Christian Ditlev Bruun, in collaboration with the Scandinavian American Arts Foundation, the American Cinematheque, Danish Trade Commission Los Angeles, the National Film School of Denmark, the Danish Film Institute and Oresund Film Commission.

Present at the event will be the festival's patron, His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark, Danish actors, directors and producers, as well as representatives from government and regional agencies.
