Byron Bay Film Festival

The Byron Bay Film Festival is a 9 day Australian International Film Festival screening a diverse programme of films, of ALL LENGTHS and ALL GENRES. Many of the films selected reflect the interests and values of Byron’s unique local community by maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental issues, human rights, diversity and multiculturalism, creativity, indigenous culture, spirit, healing, connecting to nature, conscious thinking and positive living, music of every variety, colourful characters, humour and, of course being Byron Bay, surfing.

BBFF provides a platform for independent filmmakers in all stages of their careers; creating opportunities wherever possible by profiling selected filmmakers and promoting their films both before and after the festival. The Byron Bay Film Festival brings the work of talented filmmakers to an appreciative and intelligent audience.  In 2007 the festival was attended by some heavyweights of the Australian Film Industry and BBFF’s judging panels included representatives from many of Australia’s top distribution companies.

The Byron Bay Film Festival has a number of awards to give away in numerous categories including but not limited to Best Film, Short Film, Drama, Documentary, Cinematography, Experimental Film, Animation, Environmental Film, Surf Film and Best Young Australian Filmmaker (under 25).
