Austin
The Austin Film Festival is dedicated to championing the work of aspiring and established filmmakers, defined as screenwriters, directors, editors, producers, actors and all artists who use the language of film to tell a story. The AFF furthers the art, craft and business of filmmaking by providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships.
Films screen in a variety of sections and in six competitive categories:
Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Narrative Student Short, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Animated Short.
Submission Guidelines
Films must be submitted on VHS tape or DVD NTSC or PAL (please test before sending) and be available for screening on 35mm composite condition, Beta SP or Digi-Beta Video (NTSC only for festival screening).
Films must have been completed after April 1, 2007.
Narrative and Documentary films with U.S. distribution (obtained prior to being selected for AFF screening) or films produced, financed or initiated by a major film studio or television network; films that have screened on US network or cable television or distributed to theaters prior to the festival dates; and films that have played in Austin in a theatrical setting to a public audience are not eligible to be screened at the Austin Film Festival.
Documentary features: 40 minutes or longer
Short Documentaries: 39 minutes or less
