Asian Women's Film Festival

Tongues on Fire is an annual film festival dedicated to expressing the drive and spirit of Asian women. It provides a unique international platform for Asian women working in film and media throughout the world.

It was founded in 1999 by its directors, Pushpinder Chowdhry and Harvinder Nath to use film as a vehicle for debate and exchange of ideas. Alongside film screenings the festival hosts a series of stimulating debates and events.

Tongues on Fire has brought work of award-winning filmmakers including Mira Nair, Gurinder Chadha and Meera Syal and organised retrospectives on actors such as Shabana Azmi, Nandita Das and director, Aparna Sen. It has also showcased work by upcoming talents including Shakila Maan and Jobeda Ali.

Venues include the Ritzy Cinema, the Curzon Mayfair, BAFTA and the ICA, which will host the Closing Night Gala and after party featuring DJs and Bollywood Karaoke.
