The Academia Film Olomouc Festival is one of the oldest festivals
of documentary films in Central Europe and it attracts both
filmmakers and spectators in growing numbers to meeting and getting
to know one another. Last year, in the 40th year of the
festival's existence, more than 200 filmmakers from all over the
world registered their films for the international competition and
about 10 thousand visitors took part in film projections,
exhibitions, concerts, seminars and talk shows.
The theme of the 41st year of the International film
festival AFO 2006 will be 'Prominent personalities in
documentary film', that is notable personalities featuring in
films as well as those behind the cameras. During the festival,
spectators will have a chance to watch new documentary films,
popular-scientific as well as educational programmes produced in
the course of the past two years. These films will compete to
please both the international jury, which will present The AFO
Grand Prix 2006 to the best film, as well as the audience.
Categories include Documentary, scientific, popular-scientific and
educational programmes
Format requirements include 16mm, 35mm, Betacam, VHS. Only films
and videoprogrammes produced in the last two years can be accepted
into the International Competition
Awards: Grand Prix, various other awards for different categories
