Synopsis:

A seven part series on the rural Chinese town of Lijiang, this tale follows four local families over several years as their lives twist, turn, deepen, intermingle, and blossom: the police investigation of a murder, the activities of an independent businessman, the effort of a college teacher to help her handicapped daughter, and the concerns of a doctor that his practice be continued. The universal fears and dreams of a vast continent are condensed into a tightly edited few hours of subtitled witness.
