Synopsis:
The Turner Prize-winning artist Grayson Perry, a life-long
transvetite, explores the reasons why some men cross-dress, and
asks what transvestism tells us about gender and sexuality in our
society generally. "We're one of Britain's oldest subcultures -
already well established in Victorian days" he explains. Yet
acceptance of it is still in its rudimentary stages. What are
transvestites telling us about the pressures society places on us
all to conform to 'normal' gender roles? The film is a plea for
greater understanding and tolerance on behalf of one of Britain's
most oppressed, mocked and misunderstood minorities.
