A three-part series broadcast on BBC2 in, The Power of Nightmares explores the ideological basis behind the ‘war on terror', linking it to the Cold War and exploring the idea that an organised, global terror network is an illusion.

Part 1. Baby It's Cold Outside looks at the philosophical roots of American neoconservatism and Islamic extremism, demonstrating their parallel origins.
2. The Phantom Victory examines how the two groups joined together in the fight to defeat the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, and planted the seeds for the world of fear in which we now exist.
3. The Shadows in the Cave sets out to prove the illusion of an underground terrorist network and how the perpetrators of that illusion are benefitting from it.
