Synopsis:

An exploration of the obsessional world of the trainer and those who compulsively buy them. Tracing the first explosions in trainer popularity during the early hip hop days of the 80's to the super hi-tech rocket launcher shoes of the early 21st century, John Dower's film contextualises the sneaker's key role in the popular culture whilst highlighting some of the more afflicted purchasers. From Bethnal Green to the Bronx, from Goldie to Will Self, the film offers a glimpse into the strange and funky world of the Sneaker Freak. Shown on Channel 4 as part of the Alt TV strand.
