Synopsis:

In 2002 the Sierra Leone athletics team visited Manchester for the Commonwealth Games. Out of 23 participants, 21 failed to go home.

This film takes up the story after their desertion and shows how difficult it is to build an Olympic team out of nothing but goodwill in a country that has just emerged from a brutal civil war. Starting pistols cannot be used for fear of provoking more violence. The athletes have no money, and the coach finds it hard to motivate them. But somehow Sierra Leone manages to compete at the Olympic Games, and the story isn't completely bleak.
