Synopsis:

Portrait of John Davidson, a sixteen year-old from Galashiels with severe Tourette's Syndrome, produced for the BBC's QED programme. It follows his struggle to lead a normal life and the difficulties of his family and the community as a whole to understand his condition. Society in general appears to be letting John down through its lack of knowledge about Tourette's, such the school system that doesn't know how to deal with such a bright boy with such special needs.

A ground-breaking documentary for its representation of what was until then a relatively unknown condition, the film was followed up in 2002 with The Boy Can't Help It.
