Synopsis:
Guardian journalist Maggie O'Kane investigates the effects of new
prostitution laws on women out on the streets. Travelling to
eighteen towns and cities throughout the UK, she meets women who
have become more vulnerable since the introduction of the Criminal
Justice and Police Act. The law gives police extra powers against
curb-crawlers, which has led to a more furtive trade for
prostitutes, who in turn have become even more vulnerable to
attack.
The film was shown as part of a Channel 4 season called
Prostitution - The Laws Don't Work.
