Synopsis:

Filmed using a cast of non-actors from a South Wales community, Jill Craigie's first and only feature uses drama-documentary techniques to tell this story about the nationalisation of the coal mines. The film follows the fortunes of a young miner, Tom, and his sweetheart, who leaves him for the bright lights of London and a disappointing marriage. Tom eventually becomes manager of the mine against a backdrop of issues surrounding the rights of workers. A committed Socialist, Craigie also involved the community in the scriptwriting process.

It is reported that the film broke box office records in Wales on its release there.
