Synopsis:
Meet Pauline – 80 years old, a concert pianist and opera singer, who’s cantankerous, opinionated and a compulsive hoarder. And her middle-aged son Fredrik moves in, to sort out her life.
“It seems so silly to waste anything,” she barks. Frederick’s fluent in seven languages and an expert in robotics but it counts for nothing when dealing with his mother.
As this gentle film from Bafta-winning director Daniel Vernon reveals, the household chaos is only half the story. Pauline has long been the dominant force and she’s not relinquishing the role willingly. At some point, each generation must hand over to the next — a conundrum faced by families nationwide, if not always to a soundtrack of Wagner.
