Synopsis:

The former church in Crewe doesn’t look like much from the outside. But step inside and you’ll find yourself in one of the country’s musical hotspots. For twelve years, four nights a week the Limelight has been featuring tribute bands paying homage to rock’s greatest heroes, from Pink Floyd to Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC to the Jam – all are remembered and celebrated here. This engaging Arena programme takes an affectionate look at the low-profile side of the music industry – a world far from the music Mecca of London, where top class musicians provide a great night out at a small venue without charging extortionate prices. But those playing the legendary musicians are careful not to let their egos get too big: “You got to remember you are imitating somebody,” says one performer, by day a minvan driver, by night an exuberant Led Zeppelin. “You are only there because they were there first…At the end of the day, they wrote the songs.”
