Synopsis:
Sudan is in the headlines everyday for one reason: Darfur. Beyond the horizon takes the audience past what the news covers to reveal a rich and diverse country that is in a constant struggle to get back on its feet. Sudanese journalist Hassan Ibrahim and satirist and commentator Sandi Toksvig meet in the country’s capital Khartoum where they begin their journey with a visit to a camp for internally displaced people. It is here where Darfuris discover that the essence of their identity is their language. This impressive documentary shows how Sudan's mixture of ethnicities, both African and Arab, have co-existed for thousands of years.
