Synopsis:
Arena examines the appeal and staying power of the phenomenally popular anthem to individualism, My Way. Originally written in French in 1967, the song was adapted by Paul Anka for Frank Sinatra one rainy night in New York City. It has gone on to be recorded by more than 140 artists, including Sid Vicious, Elvis Presley, Shirley Bassey and David Bowie. The song is also a huge favourite of the people, with everyone from drag queens to choir boys claiming it as their own. In this 1979 documentary, director Nigel Finch interviewed Anka and a host of others about their relationship to the song, whilst a range of artists show how they did it their way.
