Jemma Jupp has produced and directed a number of documentaries that have appeared on broadcast television on including ITV, BBC, and Channel 4.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian under her belt, she assisted production of Age 7 in the USSR in 1990-1 with director Sergei Miroshnichenko for ITV. Jupp later produced follow-up documentaries Born in the USSR-14UP (1997-8) and Born in the USSR-21UP (2004-5). These films introduces a group of children in the USSR and follows them as they move into adulthood as the former Soviet Union and communism falls apart. 14UP won an International Emmy, RTS in the North, and a Grierson commendation. 21UP was short-listed for BAFTA and Grierson in the Best Documentary category and nominated for BAFTA Craft for editing.
In 1999, Jupp produced and directed the documentary Omagh - One Year On for broadcast on BBC. This film is a portrait of the people of Omagh, a year after the town in Northern Ireland was devasted by a bomb. Omagh - One Year On was a Celtic Film Festival Jury Prize Finalist & Best Documentary Nominee.
In 2005, Jupp directed and produced Death of Celebrity for Channel Four. In the film, Piers Morgan celebrates talent and takes a pop at those who are famous for being famous including interviews with Kaiser Chiefs, Michael Gambon, Jade Goody, and Rebecca Loos.
